Justice, Mercy, and Reverence
The Scales of Truth and Justice
Observe the scales of heaven, how they balance truth and justice without fail. The Eternal One is a God of righteousness, and justice is the foundation of His throne.

He weighs the hearts of the mighty and the humble alike, as a balance scales the weight of grain. No deed escapes His notice; no secret can be hidden from His sight — for His eye is like the all-seeing sun at noon, illuminating every shadow.
In the courts of men, a judge must be blind to bribe and deaf to flattery. So too in the soul of each, fairness must stand as an impartial judge between desire and action.
Cheat not in measure or in weight; a false balance is an abomination. Let your “yes” be yes and your “no” be no, spoken with integrity.
Do not twist justice for the weak or for the strong. Partiality is a cloud that obscures the truth — whether favoring the poor out of pity or the rich out of admiration, both are distortions. Instead, cleave to what is right without regard for person.
Remember the ancient law inscribed on sacred stone: Do not bear false witness. Speak truth even if your voice trembles, for a lying tongue is a sword that pierces the speaker as well as the victim.
Better to be honest and suffer loss than to gain by deceit and incur the wrath of the Almighty. For riches built on lies are like bricks made without straw: they will crumble in time, and their builder’s shame will be great.
In the halls of the afterlife, the Egyptians spoke of the heart being weighed against the feather of Ma’at, the feather of truth. If the heart was burdened with wrongdoing, it sank and was devoured; if light with innocence, it rose and the soul found rest.
So it is with us: each day our heart is weighed. Every decision adds to or lightens that scale. The righteous strive to keep their heart light by repentance, by charity, by walking uprightly. The wicked pile stones of guilt upon their own soul, though they feel it not until the final hour.
Pursue justice and truth as your guides. Let them be to you like twin pillars, holding up the house of your character.
Justice without mercy can become cruel, but mercy without justice can become foolish indulgence. Therefore balance them as the Creator balances the sun and the rain — giving each in season.
When you sit in judgment over even small matters, imagine your own soul on the scales. Judge as you would wish to be judged — with honesty and with compassion.
Do not be quick to condemn, nor slow to acknowledge innocence. The judge of all the earth shall do right; strive that you, too, do right in your time and place.
Truth is the breath of God; when you speak truth, you breathe His air. Justice is His pathway; when you act justly, you walk in His footsteps.
By these signs is a person known: not by their boasts or appearance, but by the fruits of their deeds. The truthful tongue, the honest hand, the compassionate heart that upholds justice — these are the marks of a child of the Most High.
And know this: though justice may be delayed, it will not sleep forever. The wicked may prosper for a day and the righteous may suffer, but in the fullness of time every account is settled. The pharaoh and the slave alike must answer before the King of Eternity.
Walk, then, in truth and justice now, that in the day of reckoning your heart will be light and your soul unafraid.
