Creation and Wisdom
The Voice of Wisdom Calls
Wisdom stands at the gates of the city, at the crossroads of each life, and she cries out to all who pass by.
Wisdom stands at the gates of the city, at the crossroads of each life, and she cries out to all who pass by.
From the busy marketplaces to the lonely wilderness, her voice echoes: “O people of the earth, how long will you wander in folly? Turn to me and find life.”
She calls out above the noise of daily toil, a clear trumpet for those with ears to listen. Like a caring mother calling her children home at twilight, so does Wisdom call the wandering soul.
Hear the voice of Wisdom:
“Come, all who thirst for understanding,
Come, drink of the living waters of insight.
Folly is bitter and yields despair,
But wisdom is sweet as honeycomb, nourishing the soul.”
At the foot of the sacred mountain and along the banks of the great river, sages of old heard her plea. The prophets and wise ones, whether in tents or in palaces, opened their hearts to her teaching.
It was Wisdom who guided the humble shepherd under the stars and the diligent scribe by lamp-light. It was she who stood by the right hand of the Creator when He set the foundations of the earth, delighting in the sons and daughters of men.
She asks nothing in return but a receptive heart. She pours out her treasures freely — more precious than gold or carnelian are her gifts: prudence, knowledge, and the understanding of holy things.
“Receive my instruction instead of silver,” she whispers, “and knowledge rather than choice gold; For wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.”
How foolish is the one who ignores such a voice. Like a bird that closes its eyes and pretends the sky is empty, so is the one who rejects wisdom — flying blindly into snares.
But the one who heeds Wisdom’s call walks securely. His feet are set on righteous paths, guided by a light that does not dim.
In every generation, Wisdom’s voice rings out anew. She does not grow old nor fall silent. In the ancient days, she spoke through the law and the prophets. In days to come, she will speak in the hearts of those who seek truth.
Therefore, listen and incline your ear. Tune your soul to the melody of Wisdom, for her song leads to life. Embrace her, and you embrace the tree of life; despise her, and you love death.
As the stars crown the night sky, so let Wisdom crown your life. She will be your sister and your friend, a light by night and a guide by day.
Walk in her ways, and you shall find peace, prosperity of soul, and favor with the Almighty.
