Purpose and faith together lead to the peak moment of guidance and achievement I call the Flash. This is the sudden insight, the solution that crystallizes in an instant, or the opportunity that appears almost as if by miracle. But in truth, such a flash is not a miracle at all; it is the natural result of sustained intention and belief.

First, you must have a definite purpose. You need to know what you want to accomplish or obtain. Vagueness will not do. The Creative Intelligence responds best to a clear and specific vision. Decide exactly what it is that you are aiming for - whether it’s a certain level of success in your work, the completion of a project, a solution to a problem, or any worthy goal. This clear purpose acts as a target for both your conscious efforts and the deeper workings of the Creative Intelligence. Without a defined aim, your thoughts and actions lack focus, and inspiration knows not where to land.

Next, you must have faith - an absolute trust that your objective is attainable and that the means for achieving it are being provided by the Creative Intelligence. Faith is the confidence that the thing you want is coming, even when you can’t yet see how. It is an affirmative mental stance that attracts the guidance and opportunities you need. When you have true faith, you do not worry or wonder whether your goal will materialize; you know it will, as certainly as you know the sun will rise. This mental certainty keeps you connected to the Creative Power. It also keeps your own mind and energies centered on moving toward your goal, rather than being lost in doubt.

The importance of faith cannot be overstated. A wavering faith, full of doubts and fears, is like a leaky vessel - it cannot hold the power needed to reach the moment of breakthrough. If you doubt whether you can succeed, or whether the Creative Intelligence will help you, then you introduce resistance into the process. Doubt and fear produce mental “static” that can jam the signals of inspiration. I have urged readers to banish doubt as they would a thief; it truly steals your power. Faith, on the other hand, amplifies your power. It is the assurance that what you desire is not only possible, but in progress. Every day, affirm your faith. You do not need to see evidence yet; your faith is your evidence, and it is enough.

When a clear purpose is held with unshakeable faith, a tremendous law is set into motion. By spiritual law, the answer or fulfillment must come. The Creative Intelligence within and around you begins arranging ideas and circumstances to bring about the realization of your goal. Often, for a time, there may be no outward sign of change. This is where many people lose heart - they mistake the quiet gestation period for inactivity or “nothing happening.” But if you maintain your purpose and faith during this period, something is happening: the creative forces are accumulating, aligning factors in your favor. You might picture creative forces like water rising quietly behind a dam; everything seems still, but pressure is building - and then at the right moment the dam breaks, and the Flash occurs.

What does this Flash look like? It may manifest as a sudden idea that brilliantly solves a problem you’ve struggled with, a moment of clarity where the exact steps forward become obvious, or even an external event like a phone call or chance meeting that dramatically opens a door. However it comes, it often arrives in a way that feels electric - a “Eureka!” moment where things click into place. Many who have achieved great things have reported such moments: after long periods of persistence and belief, an answer seemed to come all at once.

It is crucial to recognize that the Flash is not a random stroke of luck; it is earned by your sustained alignment of thought. It is the cumulative reward of your smaller guided actions and your refusal to give up. When it comes, it often bears the hallmark of the Creative Intelligence in its elegant timing or simplicity.

Your role in this is to hold steady until the Flash comes, and then to seize it. By holding steady, I mean do not waver in your aim or your conviction. Continue to do all you can in the present (acting in the Certain Way, as always), and keep expecting the answer. It is often just at the brink of what we call “discouragement” that the breakthrough tends to happen - like the darkest hour before dawn. If you allow impatience or fear to make you abandon your vision, you essentially drain the reservoir that was building toward the dam - break of insight. It has been observed that some miners stopped digging just a few feet before striking gold, giving up when success was nearly at hand. Many people give up on their dreams because they did not realize how close they were to the critical breakthrough. Your faith and purpose ensure you keep digging until you hit the treasure.

Now, when the Flash comes, act on it immediately. This might seem obvious, but you would be surprised how often people hesitate even after receiving the very answer they sought. Sometimes the solution that comes in a flash may ask you to step outside your comfort zone or change your plans. You must not let self - doubt creep back in at this point. Trust the inspiration that has been given. If it is a brilliant idea, implement it or at least set the wheels in motion without delay. If it is an opportunity presenting itself, embrace it fully. If you have prayed for rain and it begins to pour, you must step outside to receive it. Likewise, now that the blessing you sought is here, claim it without hesitation.

Resolve that you will not let go of your vision, and you will not let go of your faith. By doing so, you hold on until the Creative Intelligence delivers what you need - and deliver it will, in a brilliant flash lighting up the path to your goal.

Immediate Action

Take a moment to write down a concise statement of your chief purpose or goal. Make it as clear and specific as possible. Place this statement where you can see it daily (on your desk or mirror) and read it every morning and night, reinforcing the image of what you intend to achieve.

Begin a daily habit of affirming that your goal is being fulfilled. For example: “I know that what I desire is on its way. The path will be shown and the Creative Intelligence is bringing it to pass.” Say this with feeling and do not allow any thoughts of doubt.
