Old Age
A short Ma’at meditation on old age, truth, and the discipline of right living.
Age creeps upon us like the slow rising of the Nile.
One day you find your hair a river of gray and your back bent like a bow.
Do not lament getting older – each year is a harvest of lessons.
In youth one has vigor; in age one gains perspective.
Respect the elderly, for they have traveled roads you have yet to walk.
As you age, do not cling to youth’s glories; embrace the role of guide and storyteller.
A sunset has its own beauty no sunrise can rival.
In life’s cycle, old age is not an end but the season of wisdom.
