Mind & self · COMPLETE RESEARCH DRAFT

I NEVER SAID THAT

Who Owns Your Reputation When the Internet Can Invent You?

A complete research draft on false attribution, source dependence and the work of correcting a public record. It distinguishes a file’s history from what an event proves, examines research on repetition and correction, and develops practical ways to preserve evidence and return corrections to affected audiences. An explicitly hypothetical model separates the number of reports from independent sources and correction reach from belief change. The draft also considers fair decisions, institutional duties and the limits of technical provenance. Commissioning supports the finished, edited PDF edition.

The idea behind the book +

The Jewish Journal’s September 23, 2026 report describes comedian Menachem Silverstein being incorrectly identified in footage of an unrelated comedy prank, and says AI systems repeated the account. This is a reported example of misidentification and false context; it does not require treating the underlying footage as a proven deepfake. NIST’s generative-AI risk framework provides additional context for examining system reliability and information integrity.
