Living Example
Industry
A short Ma’at meditation on industry, truth, and the discipline of right living.
An idle hour is a treasure squandered.
Fill your time with purpose, learning, or kindness – not with idle gossip and lounging.
There is a time for rest, but let it be earned and brief.
The lazy postpone every duty and find life slipping away empty.
Work while it is day, so that when night comes you can sleep content.
Do not say “I will do it tomorrow,” for too many tomorrows build only regret.
The bee gathers nectar while it can; the Nile’s flood waits for no procrastinator.
Use your time and energy wisely to avoid remorse.
Diligence in youth brings comfort in old age; idleness brings only empty years.
Ma’at favors the active, engaged heart.
