Inner Virtue

Laughter

A short Ma’at meditation on laughter, truth, and the discipline of right living.

Meditation LXIII 1 minute read 106 words

Laughter is medicine for the heart.
Do not be solemn beyond measure – the gods themselves enjoy a jest.
A moment of honest mirth can dispel a mountain of sorrow.
Learn to laugh at yourself kindly; it is a sign of wisdom.
A cheerful heart draws people as a fire draws the cold.
So long as your laughter harms no one and lightens the spirit, it is blessed.
In laughter we find our common humanity.
Even in hard times, a bit of humor is a lamp in the dark.
Ma’at smiles upon those who balance earnestness with joy.
