Restraint and Courage

Quarrel

A short Ma’at meditation on quarrel, truth, and the discipline of right living.

Meditation XLVII 1 minute read 107 words

Avoid a senseless quarrel as you would avoid a cobra.
Many angry words solve nothing and leave lasting wounds.
If you disagree, speak calmly and listen deeply.
Sometimes yielding a small point wins a greater peace.
Do not pour oil on the fire of another’s rage; stay composed and gentle.
Consider: is your goal to prove yourself right, or to find the truth?
Pride makes us fight for an empty victory.
Step back and let tempers cool – a dispute often softens with time and understanding.
Wise are those who defer their wrath and seek common ground under Ma’at.
