Right Relations

The Jar by the Door

A short Ma’at meditation on the jar by the door, truth, and the discipline of right living.

Meditation XI 1 minute read 82 words

At the door of a humble house sits a jar of cool water.
Each morning the householder fills it, though no traveler may come.
He asks nothing in return; his heart is light knowing a wanderer’s thirst might be eased.
Charity is a quiet ripple in the pond of eternity.
The giver, the receiver, and the water itself are blessed in the act.
In giving, he serves Ma’at; in caring, he becomes part of the divine balance.
